SUSE Rancher Prime Deployment and Operations

Course Description

This comprehensive training provides an in-depth introduction to SUSE Rancher Prime, covering essential components, architecture, and deployment strategies. Participants will learn to perform critical Kubernetes cluster management and administration tasks, including cluster provisioning, user management, role-based access control, and application deployments.

The course progresses to advanced topics such as security utilities, backup and disaster recovery procedures, monitoring solutions, and logging configurations. This training helps prepare students for the SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA) in SUSE Rancher Prime certification.

Training Objectives

At the end of the training participants:

• Understand the main components, packaging and architecture of SUSE Rancher Prime.
• Deploy SUSE Rancher Prime and know its deployment requirements and the available deployment methods.
• Access, navigate and brand the SUSE Rancher Prime user interface.
• Manage downstream clusters: import existing Kubernetes clusters, provision clusters on existing nodes and in the cloud with node and cluster drivers and the Cluster API.
• Manage users and groups and control authorization with roles.
• Manage applications with projects, namespaces, workloads, Helm, the SUSE Application Collection and quotas, and implement continuous delivery with Project Fleet.
• Configure monitoring and logging for downstream clusters, including external log output and SUSE Observability.
• Secure clusters with security scanning, the SUSE Admission Policy Manager and SUSE Security, and manage SUSE Rancher Prime UI extensions.
• Access Rancher and downstream clusters from the command line with kubectl and use the Rancher API.
• Back up, restore, upgrade and migrate SUSE Rancher Prime and its downstream clusters.
• Be prepared for the SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA) in SUSE Rancher Prime certification.

This course is designed for administrators responsible for deploying and managing SUSE Rancher Prime environments. Ideal participants include those tasked with importing and creating downstream clusters, managing authorization frameworks, deploying containerized applications, and implementing security features for Kubernetes infrastructure.
